                                          WHAT IS REIKI?Japanese Reiki Character

  • Reiki (Pronounced Ray - Key) is a holistic healing technique that promotes relaxation and healing on all levels - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
  • Reiki is a Japanese word that means Universal (Rei) life force energy (Ki).
  • It is a hands on healing technique, where the Reiki energy flows from the universe, through the hands of the Reiki practitioner  to the person receiving the treatment. This is similar to the  analogy of water flowing through a hose.
  • Reiki helps to increase your life force energy and release any negative toxins, blockages or emotions.
  • Reiki can be used to treat any kind of ailment, problem or disease
  • It can be used in conjunction with and complements any other kind of treatment being received.
  • It is completely safe and natural, creating a peaceful, relaxing experience.

THE ORIGINS OF REIKI

  • Reiki was founded in 1922 by Mikao Usui, who was a Japanese scholar, teacher, healer and Buddhist Monk.     
  • He was on a 21 day retreat of meditation and fasting on Mount Kurama in Kyoto, Japan.   
  • On the last day, he had a spiritual awakening and experienced a spiritual healing energy which he named Reiki. 
  • He intuitively knew that this was a way of healing others without depleting ones own energy. 
  • Mikao Usui then developed The Usui System of Natural Reiki Healing. 
  • He then devoted his life to providing Reiki healing and teaching others to pass on this knowledge. 
  • He developed 5 principles or precepts of Reiki as a guideline for people to follow to invite good fortune into their lives.

  • Reiki can help you heal on many levels and live a better, more fulfilling life.
  • Some of the concepts include managing your anger, fear and worry as well as being grateful, diligent and kind. 
  • These are good principles to live by to be more aware and present in your life. 
  • It is about respecting and caring for all living things from yourself, others, animals, trees and the environment.  
  • Live in harmony with people and living things, your surroundings and environment.
  • When you learn to manage your thoughts and feelings and do not allow them to control you or influence your actions, you become more centered, calm, peaceful and powerful.
